Report Animal Cruelty

To report animal abuse, neglect, or distress in Ontario - call the 24/7 Ontario Protection Call Centre 1-833-9-ANIMAL (1-833-926-4625).

If an animal's life is in immediate danger or an act of cruelty is actively occurring, call 911 or the local police immediately.

Urgent Emergencies (Call 911)

  • An animal attack or bite needing emergency medical care
  • An active dog-fighting or cockfighting ring
  • An act of cruelty currently happening (such as beating or torturing)
  • An animal left alone in a hot or cold car

General Abuse, Neglect, or Distress (Call 1-833-9-ANIMAL)

  • Animals that are hurt, sick, in pain, or abused
  • Pets or farm animals lacking proper food, water, or safe shelter
  • Captive wildlife or zoo/livestock animals in distress

Provide the call centre with the full address or exact location and clear details to create an incident ticket for provincial inspectors.

Municipal Animal Control (Call Local Bylaw)

  • Stray, roaming, or dead animals on public property
  • Nuisance wildlife issues
  • General animal noise complaints
