During shelter hours, call NHS directly at 905-885-4131 so our team can help you determine the appropriate next step.
If the shelter is closed, please use the information provided below to find the appropriate service for your situation.

After Hours / Animal in Immediate Danger
If an animal is in immediate danger or needs urgent assistance when NHS is closed, don’t wait for the shelter to reopen.
Call 911 if there is an immediate threat to human safety. For animal welfare concerns, contact Provincial Animal Welfare Services (PAWS) at 1-833-9-ANIMAL.
Municipal Animal Services
For concerns involving roaming or stray animals, animal control, by-law enforcement or licensing, contact the appropriate animal services provider for your municipality.
Injured or Orphaned Wildlife
Found a wild animal that appears injured, sick or orphaned? Find information about appropriate wildlife resources and what to do next by contacting the Ministry of Natural Resources.
Veterinary Emergency
If your pet is seriously injured, suddenly ill or experiencing another medical emergency, contact your veterinarian or an emergency veterinary clinic immediately.
NHS is not an emergency veterinary hospital.
