Meet Lucky - He's Ready for His Second Chance!
At just 4 years old, Lucky, our handsome neutered Shepherd/Mastiff cross, is searching for the forever family he's been waiting for.
Lucky is the kind of dog who steals your heart once he gets to know you. While he may be a little cautious when meeting new people, give him a few treats, a calm introduction, and a little patience, and before you know it, he's leaning in for affection and soaking up all the love he can get.
This big, intelligent boy loves to learn and is eager to please. He's highly motivated by food and toys, already knows several commands including sit, shake, and drop it, walks beautifully on a properly fitted slip lead, and absolutely loves playing in the water! He's made incredible progress during his time at the shelter and is ready for someone to continue helping him reach his full potential using positive reinforcement.
Like any young, enthusiastic dog, Lucky can get a little carried away during playtime. He has a hilarious habit of "play growling," but don't let it fool you-his body language stays loose, happy, and playful. He's simply having the time of his life!
Lucky would do best with experienced dog owners who can continue building on the training he's already received. A rural home or larger property where he has room to explore would be ideal. Because of his size and exuberance, we're looking for a home with older children. His interactions with other dogs are still being assessed, so we're happy to discuss his needs with potential adopters.
